What We Manufacture
Dry eye disease affects over 30% of adults in India — driven by screen time, air conditioning, contact lens use and environmental factors.

Our lubricant eye drop range covers:
WHY 9M INDIA
All ophthalmic preparations at 9M India are manufactured in dedicated sterile cleanroom environments — Grade A fill-finish under Class A laminar airflow, with Grade B background. Environmental monitoring, water for injection (WFI) system validation, 0.22 micron sterile filtration and 100% container closure integrity testing are standard on every batch. No ophthalmic product is manufactured outside these conditions.
Sterility · Bacterial endotoxins · Visible particulate matter · Sub-visible particles · pH · Osmolality · Assay (HPLC) · Preservative content · Container closure integrity — all tested in our dedicated ophthalmic QC laboratory. COA issued per batch.
DCGI manufacturing licence · WHO-GMP Certificate · COA · COC · Stability data (ICH Zone II and IVa) · Compatibility studies — available within 24 hours for tender, export registration or CDMO requirements.
WHO WE SUPPLY
Ophthalmology departments & eye hospitals
Ophthalmologists, optometrists, eye care clinics — dry eye is one of the highest-frequency OPD diagnoses in ophthalmology, making lubricant eye drops a high-volume recurring prescription.
Private label & contract manufacturing partners
Domestic OTC ophthalmic brands manufacturing dry eye drops through 9M India — CMC 0.5% and 1% are high-velocity OTC products in the Indian pharmacy market.
International export buyers
Middle Eastern and South-East Asian buyers — dry eye prevalence is high in arid and air-conditioned environments across these markets.

01
Yes. 9M India manufactures lubricant and tear substitute eye drops including Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) 0.5% and 0.1%, Hypromellose (HPMC) drops, Sodium Chloride ophthalmic drops and other lubricant formulations at its WHO-GMP certified sterile ophthalmic facility. Dry eye disease is one of the most prevalent ophthalmic conditions globally, driving high demand for these formulations.
02
Sodium CMC eye drops are a lubricant and tear substitute used for the symptomatic relief of dry eye disease (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), ocular surface dryness from environmental exposure, contact lens wear, prolonged screen use and post-refractive surgery dry eye. CMC provides a gel-like viscosity that stabilises the tear film and provides sustained lubrication on the ocular surface.
03
CMC 0.5% provides higher viscosity and more sustained lubrication — suitable for moderate to severe dry eye symptoms and nocturnal use. CMC 0.1% is a lower viscosity formulation for mild dry eye and frequent daytime use where clarity of vision after instillation is important. 9M India manufactures both concentrations for institutional and export supply.
04
Yes. Dry eye disease is significantly prevalent in the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa — 9M India's primary export markets — due to hot and dry environmental conditions, high rates of air conditioning exposure, increasing screen time and contact lens use. Studies show dry eye prevalence of 30–50% in some Middle Eastern populations, creating substantial and growing demand for lubricant eye drops in these markets.
05
Preservative-free unit-dose lubricant eye drops (single-dose vials) are increasingly the preferred format for dry eye management — particularly for patients using drops multiple times daily, those with contact lenses and those with preservative sensitivity. Please contact our export team to discuss preservative- free unit-dose packaging requirements for your market.
06
Lubricant eye drops are available in 10ml and 15ml sterile multi-dose bottles as standard retail and institutional pack formats. Larger institutional packs and unit-dose single-use vials can be arranged for specific market requirements. Custom labelling for private label supply is also available.
07
Yes. 9M India manufactures Hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) ophthalmic drops — a cellulose-based polymer lubricant widely used as a tear substitute. Hypromellose provides good ocular surface retention and is used in artificial tear formulations, pre-operative ocular surface preparation and as a vehicle in some ophthalmic diagnostic procedures.
08
Documentation available includes WHO-GMP Certificate, DCGI Manufacturing Licence, Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CoPP), batch-wise Certificate of Analysis (sterility, particulate matter, pH, viscosity, assay), ICH Zone IVb stability data and CTD/ACTD dossiers on request. Lubricant eye drops are classified as medical devices or medicines in different markets — our regulatory team can advise on the appropriate registration pathway.
